What is radium used for?
Radium was formerly used in self-luminous paints for nuclear panels, watches, aircraft switches, clocks, and instrument dials. More than 100 former watch dial painters who used their lips to shape the paintbrush died from the radiation from the radium that had become kept in their bones. Soon afterward, the adverse effects of radioactivity became widely known. Radium was still used in dials as late as the 1950s. Although tritium's beta radiation is potentially dangerous if ingested, it has changed radium in these applications.
Ferromagnetic materials get magnetic properties not only because their atoms owns a magnetic moment but also because the material consists of small regions called as magnetic domai
What do you mean by an optical fiber? State its principle. Can we minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations simultaneously? If so, how?
A physics student performs a double-slit diffraction experiment on an optical bench, as shown in the figure below. The light from a helium-neon laser has a wavelength of 632.8
What are radiation hazards? Mention four safety measures which should be taken against radioactive radiation. OR Explain radio isotopes? Write their any four uses. Descri
Refracting telescopes, if uncorrected, suffer from chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration occurs because: a) red light is focused more strongly than blue light b)
How is coiled, twisted or roped fibers terminated? Generally terms the same techniques as with PMMA apply, because this optics are no more that 0,75mm diameter PMMA fibers bunc
Do fibers have losses? Everything in the universe is inefficient. It means that while a measured amount of something enters in a system, less comes out than initially went in.
The Coriolis effect is a deflection of moving objects when they are reflects in a rotating reference frame. In a reference frame with clockwise rotation, the deflection is to the l
