What is radioactivity?

Radioactivity: The process of spontaneous disintegration of the nuclei of heavy elements with the emission of certain radiations is known as natural radioactivity.

The nuclei of certain elements with atomic number more than 82 disintegrate by emitting alpha (α ), beta (β ) and gamma (c ) rays. This phenomenon is called radioactivity.
