What is multiplicity?

Multiplicity is applied to attributes for data base application. Multiplicity for an attribute specifies the number of possible value for every instantiation of an attribute. It specifies one value [1], an optimal single value [0..1], and many [*]. If not specified, attribute is supposed to be a mandatory single value.
