Multiparty system and coalition
We have already made conceptual excursion gaining impressions of the existence of multiple parties. Now, in this section we shall observe that having more than two parties, i.e., multi-parties raise some additional issues, relating to voters preferences and electoral outcomes, besides policy influences. In fact this forms the platform for political coalition. There have been two approaches to study coalition, the game theoretic approach and the empirico-inductive theory, which Laver and Schofield (1995) called the 'European Politics'.
