Q. What is trichomoniasis? Why is it classified as an STD?

The Trichomoniasis is an extra-intestinal protozoan infection caused by the Trichomonas vaginalis, a flagellate protozoan. The parasite infects the urinary tract of females and males. In females it causes pain, discharge and itching. Trichomoniasis is an STD because its major mode of transmission is sexual contact.
