What are the responsibility of File manager?

File Manager : Manager allocation of space on disk storage and the data structures used to represent within stored on disk. It is also responsible for -
- Locating block of target record
- Requesting block from disk Manager
- Transmitting required record to data Manager
This file Manager can be implemented using an interface to the existing file subsystem provided through the O.S. of the host computer or it can involved a file subsystem written especially for DBMS.
