What are the points that should be kept in mind during forging design?
Some of the points which must be followed while forging design are:
> A radial flow of fibers or grains should be achieved in forged components.
> Forged items like drop and press forgings must have a parting line which should divide forging into two equal halves.
> Ribs in a forging must not be high or thin.
> In order to avoid increased die wear the pockets and recesses in forgings must be minimum.
> In forgings parting line of it must lie as far as possible in a single plane.
> For ease of forging and easy removal of forgings the surfaces of metal must contain sufficient drafts.
