Assignment Help:

Diagnostic Models

Study models made from impressions of the arches are invaluable for diagnosis and treatment planning. The model must be mounted on an adjustable or semi adjustable articulator to reproduce correct hinge occlusion and eccentric relation. Models can help detect the following conditions:

 Faulty crown contours

Malalignment of teeth in the arches

 Abraded occlusal and axial surface

 Degree of overbite and overjet

Edentulous area relation of the gingival tissue to the clinical crown

 Functional relationship of the teeth

Assessment of resorption and interarch space

Prewaxing of models to produce cosmetic results and functional relationships

 Prefabrication of surgical stent

 Prefabrication of acrylic temporaries
