What are secondary roots, Biology

Assignment Help:

What are secondary roots? In origin how secondary roots differentiate from shoots?

Secondary roots are ramifications of the primary (major) root. The secondary roots emerge from the pericycle, inner tissue of the root. The shoots originate from the lateral buds of the stem. Thus the origin of the secondary roots is endogenous and the source of the shoots is exogenous.
