This method is often used in creating distilled spirits with high ethanol concentrations. Assume that we begin with a 12% (by mass) solution of ethanol in water. At 78? P0vap (CH3CH2OH) =1.00 atm, P0vap (H2O) = 0.431 atm.
a. What is the percentage of ethanol in the vapor at 78 ??
b. If the vapor from step 1 was collected and heated to 78 ? again, what would the percentage of ethanol in the vapor be?
