Q. Utilisation of Buoyancy Effect?

Submerged part of the substructure will be subjected to buoyancy effect. The uplift pressure from the ground water can be utilised by constructing a water tight basement below the water table. Water table must remain at constant level for this method to be effective. Hence, location of the substructure very close to a large body of water is essential.
