Types of buildings required for plant, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Types of buildings required for Plant?

The following types of buildings may be required:

• Control rooms / Motor Control Centers (MCC) / Equipment rooms.

• Electrical substations.

• Fire fighting pump houses.

• Analysis houses & Laboratories.

• Administration buildings, Warehouses & Maintenance buildings.

• Process Buildings.

Control rooms, substations and instrument houses should be located in a safe area with minimum cable runs to and from the plant units. Recognition should be given to where the main power enters the plant and to heavy electrical power users such as compressors or aerial coolers. MCC / substations are often elevated for ease of cable routing in and out of the building.

In process buildings, process requirements need to be consulted with Civil, Structural, Architectural and HVAC departments.
