Transformational leadership:

The transformational leadership style depends on high levels of communication from management to meet goals. Leaders motivate employees and enhance productivity and efficiency through communication and high visibility. This style of leadership requires the involvement of management to meet goals.

            Nurses have been reported as frequently being resistant to changed. An open system's response to change is influenced by factors such as a group's past experiences, present need, values, culture, roles and coping abilities. For example, if an organisation is stable and the change is seen as a threat, there is likely to be resistance to change. Barriers to change include factors such as 'decreased resources, lack of support, resistance, poor communication mechanism, or pressures to get the day-to -day work done'. Nurse Managers need the ability to predict, plan and manage both predictable and unpredictable, which maybe multiple and simultaneous. Effective change requires leadership skills of interpersonal communication, group management, and problem-solving skills.
