Q. What is the minimum prescribed track structure for LWR / CWR on Broad Gauge?
Ans.-
1. General - The minimum length of LWR depends upon -
i. Range of temporary variation.
ii. The section of rail.
iii. Resistance offered by ballast to the longitudinal movement of rail assembly.
2. Formation - Weak formation to be identified and stabilized suitable means cross slope should be 1 in 40. In heavy rainfall areas steeper grades can be provided as prescribed by CE.
3. Ballast - Minimum clean ballast cushion 250 mm for speeds up to 130 KmPH for speeds above 130 KmPH minimum depth of ballast cushion shall be 300 mm or 200 mm clean ballast over 150 mm sub ballast.
