Accurate identification of the infecting organism is the key to successful treatment. 

Antibiotics as per the sensitivity study in high doses IV is given. Usually, a cocktail of two or three antibiotics given intravenously. Generally, two or three broad spectrum antibiotics in higher concentration given for 4-6 weeks. The purpose is to destroy the bacteria within the vegetation e.g. Inj. Crystalline penicillin 40 lakhs q4th IVY Inj. 'Gentarnycine 80 mg bd for 4-6 weeks). High dose of a combination of antibiotics for a long duration is the principle involved in the treatment to destroy bacteria hiding in the vegetation.
