Tests for acetone - Indigo test and Iodoform test

(a) Indigo test: When a small amount of orthonitrobenzaldehyde is added to approximately 2 ml. of acetone and it is diluted along with KOH solution and stirred. A blue colour of indigotin is produced or formed.

(b) Iodoform test: Acetone provides iodoform test along with iodine and sodium hydroxide or iodine and ammonium hydroxide.
