What are the Special features and Applications of carbon dioxide laser?
Special features and Applications of carbon dioxide laser:
The efficiency of this Laser is extremely high (30 percent). The power output can be as high as 10kW. Nature of output may be regulated wave or pulsed. Due to the high power levels obtainable (combined along with reasonable cost for the laser), CO2 lasers are often used into industrial applications for cutting and welding, whereas lower power level lasers are utilized for engraving. They are also very helpful in surgical procedures since water (that makes up most biological tissue) absorbs such frequency of light thoroughly. Some illustrations of medical uses are laser surgery, skin resurfacing (as "laser facelifts") (that essentially comprise burning the skin to encourage collagen formation), and dermabrasion. As well, this could be used to treat certain skin conditions as like hirsuties papillaris genitalis though removing embarrassing or annoying bumps and podules and more. Connect that part of the application along with the image demonstrated at begin.
Since the atmosphere is quite transparent to infrared light, carbon dioxide lasers are also used for military range determining by using LIDAR techniques.
