Soil particles for geotechnical design, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Question

Will it worthwhile to take out tests on particle density of soil particles for geotechnical design?

Answer

Particle density of soils is definite by ratio of soil particle mass and soil element volume. Depending on soil category, range of variation of soil particle thickness varies not drastically as in by percent. So, it might not be useful to order laboratory tests and incur additional expenditure just to decide particles density by recognizing that variation of particles density is not significant.
