A  high technology system encompasses a  number of  elements like   people, hardware, software, database, documentation, and process.  System engineering helps to translate a customer's requirement into a model of a system which makes use of 1 or more of these elements.

System engineering starts through taking a world view.  A product or business domain is analyzed to build all basic needs focus is then narrowed to a domain view where every of the system component is analyzed individually.

Every component is allocated  to 1 or more engineering components that are then addressed through the relevant engineering discipline.
