Shunt Capacitors
Line losses owing to poor PF can be decreased through improving the PF. Overall improvement in the operating condition can be brought about through reducing the system reactance. This can be completed through the application of shunt capacitors.
Shunt capacitors can be linked in the subsequent ways:
- Across individual customers;
- At vantage points on LT and 11 kV feeders;
- At distribution transformers; and
- At 33/11 kV substations.
Q. (a) An audio amplifier with R i = 10 k, R o = 0, and ¯A(ω), as shown in Figure (a), is used in the circuit shown in Figure with R S = 1 k,R L = 16 , and C = 0.2 µF. Sk
Q. Consider an RL series circuit excited by (a) v(t) = 20e -2t V, and (b) v(t) = 20 V. Determine the forced component of the voltage across the inductor for R = 2 and L = 2H.
High Voltage Distribution System or HVDS Adoption of HVDS (High Voltage Distribution System) through converting existing LVDS to HVDS reduces the technical losses appreciably.
