Q. Show the Specification of Bricks?

Specification of Ist class Bricks-

1. Table moulded and wire cut.

2. It should have edges and parallel faces.

3. If struck with hard substance it shall give ringing sound.

4. If soaked in water for 24 hrs. It should not absorb water 20% more than its dry weight.

5. If thrown on the hard surface or against other brick it should not break easily.

6. The standard size of brick shall be 19 x 9 x 9 cm. Or 9'' x 4½'' x 2 ¾''.

7. The tolerance in size shall be as follows - If 20 bricks stack is prepared the measurement shall be Length 368 to 392 cm. & Width & Height 174 to 186 cm.

8. Each brick shall have a frog of rectangular shape of size 4 x 10 x 1 or 2 cm. Deep or an oval shape of size 6 x 4 x 1 or 2 cm deep.

9. The minimum compressive strength of the brick shall be 105 kg / cm2.

10. Tempering of the clay and sand mixture shall be done in a pugging mill.

11. The burning shall be done in Kilns only.
