Q. Show Seismic Loads For Ground Supported Equipment?

V = CsW is the governing equation for horizontal seismic base shear of ground supported equipment. C= 1.2AvS/(RT2/3), But Cs (seismic design coefficient) need not be greater than 5.5 Aa/R; where Av, Aa, S, R, are site specific values, and T is the first natural period of the equipment to be calculated. W is the operating weight of the equipment.  The lateral horizontal seismic forces induced at the levels or mass points of the equipment, and in the direction causing the highest stresses.
