As the rate of blood flow is reduced, the digestion, absorption and distribution of nutrients is retarded.A reduced blood flow and smaller number of functioning nephrons lessens the glomeruIar filtration and tubular reabsorption so that the excretion of wastes and the return of nutrients to the circulation is less efficient.
