Assignment Help:

Railway operation:

Terminal facilities are an important feature of railway operation. These include stations where trains stop and passengers are serviced; and railway yards where trains are marshalled and assembled and cargo handling facilities exist. Ancillary structures include engine sheds, watering facilities and overhead transmission lines.

The construction of a railway line is a specialised activity, involving lying of track and construction of bridges and tunnels. The maintenance of a railway line in a good condition is a very responsible job of the civil engineer, since it involves safety. Renewal of track after years of service is also part of special maintenance.
