Q. Power supply in computer system?

Computer operate electronically- either by power supply attained from your electric plug or batteries in case of portable computers. Though the current coming via your electric line is too strong for the delicate computer circuits. Also electricity is supplied as AC however the computer uses DC. So power supply is the equipment which takes AC from electrical supply and converts it to DC to supply to computer circuits.  Early power supplies were linear power supplies and they worked by simply blocking one cycle of AC current.  They were superseded by SMPS.
