Power Distribution

You will study about the legislative measures that have been taken by our government to address these challenges. In particular, we discuss the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, that was formulated to sensitize the consumer on the advantages of efficient use of energy and energy conservation, and the mandatory compliance needs.

Further, we present the salient features of the Electricity Act, 2003, that is a comprehensive piece of legislation for the power sector. This Act has helped to modification the power scenario in our country significantly. Thus, you must know the provisions of the Act that impact the power distribution sector and understand their implications. We also discuss the National Electricity Policy and National Tariff Policy, which have been notified by the Government as per the requirement of the Electricity Act, 2003. The complete versions of these documents are available on the website of the Ministry of Power.  Thus, we shall not reproduce the documents here. Rather, we bring forth their important features and implications in that you should be aware of, to do your job better.
