Perform a Personal Skills Audit

Your employer wishes you to become an effective and confident self-directed employee. With this in mind they have set you some tasks. These will enable you to assess and develop a range of professional and personal skills in order to promote your personal and career development

Tasks

Task 1
Relate approaches to self-managed learning that you have already implemented. Consider other approaches.
Evaluate approaches to self-managed learning.

Task 2
Consider the advantages and disadvantages of methods identified, both from a personal perspective and from that of an organisation.
Evaluate the benefits of self-managed learning to the individual and the organisation.

Task 3
How could you be encouraged further with personal and professional lifelong learning? What would motivate you in this regard?
Propose ways in which lifelong learning in personal and professional contexts could be encouraged.

Task 4
Perform a personal skills audit. You must consider current skills and competencies against professional standards and employer objectives.
Evaluate own current skills and competencies against professional standards and organisational objectives.

Task 5

Produce a personal development plan. You need to identify your current and future development needs and processes and activities required to implement the plan. Identify specific opportunities to meet your needs.

Discuss the processes and activities required to implement the development plan.

Devise a personal and professional development plan based on identified needs.

Identify development opportunities to meet current and future defined needs.

Identify own development needs and the activities required to meet them.

Indicative characteristics:

1-Effective thinking has taken place around personal & professional development issues

2-Conclusions have been reached following research and synthesis of ideas.

3-A range of sources of information has been used.

4-Explanations have been drawn from experience/research and conclusions are justified.

5-Coherent, logical development of management concepts and associated topics.

6-Various methods of presentation have been used and technical language has been accurately used

7-Accurate precedence and line of balance plans have been generated by learner.

8-Appropriate and accurate referencing using the Harvard referencing system

9-Thorough evaluation of personal & professional development issues has taken place.

10-There is evidence of clear reflection on current skills and competencies

11-Autonomy and independence has been demonstrated.

12-Answers have been arrived at through additional personal research.

13-Effective thinking has taken place around personal & professional development issues

14-Innovative and creative personal & professional development ideas have been generated.
