In developing our awareness of Indigenous Australians, including their historical perspectives, culture and lifestyles, it is important that we recognise and understand the development and progression of the reconciliation movement.

For this task I would like you to provide a brief outline of the development and progression of reconciliation. This outline will be put in our centres resource library for use by all our staff. In your answer you need to cover the following:

• Identify two main committees/organisations working towards reconciliation. Make sure you state the aims and functions of these committees/organisations.
• What is the role for non-Aboriginal people in the reconciliation process?
• Identify and explain strategies that people may use to minimise racism.
• Consider the value of developing a statement of reconciliation for a children's service.
