Nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction

The product is formed by a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction in which chloride is displaced by hydroxide ion.  The product is ionized by -OH present in the reaction mixture; addition of acid (H3O+) forms the neutral phenol.
