Natural Resource Administration: Together, these resources provide the ecosystem services that underpin human life. The perspective of this paper is that NRM should contribute to poverty alleviation, and that natural resources should be used in a sustainable manner to enhance human welfare. While poverty alleviation and sustainable NRM are generally compatible, difficult tradeoffs may occur at times. Nevertheless the fact remains that without poverty alleviation, the environment in developing countries will continue to degrade, and without better NRM, poverty alleviation will be undermined.
