MATERIALS WELDABILITY

Electron beam welding has the ability to weld a variety of materials including dissimilar combinations. These can be split into general categories as to their weldability: Materials to be readily welded by EBW are low carbon steel, 300 series stainless steel, non heat treatable aluminium, copper alloys, titanium alloys, precipitation hardening steels, molybdenum, tantalum, columbium, silver, gold, platinum, lead, uranium, etc.

Materials with limitation or special techniques require such as pre or post heat treatment are medium carbon steels, high carbon steels, tool steels, low alloy steels, solution hardening steels, heat treatable aluminium, copper, magnesium alloys, tungsten, etc.
