Landing Systems:

There are two basic types of landing, viz :

(a) visual landing, when the weather conditions are favourable, and

(b) instrumented landing, when the weather conditions are adverse.

Facilities for Navigation and Traffic Control

Air Traffic Control Tower, provided in a terminal building, contains several traffic control aids such as radar, radio signal station and weather monitoring aids. The following are aids in controlling movement of aircraft in the runways and taxi-ways :

(a) approach lighting system,

(b) visual approach slope indicator (VASI), and

(c) runway and identified lights.
