Failure Due to Rupture of Steel

This mode of  failure is likely in lightly reinforced concrete members in which the ultimate strength of  steel is attained before the concrete reaches the ultimate condition. For example, in concrete flexural members with large compression flanges and with low amount of  steel, this type of  failure may  take place.
