Illustrate the light emitting diode for fibre optic communication?
Light-Emitting Diode (LED) for fibre optic communication:
There are two types of LED. They are surface etched well emitter (S-LED) and edge emitter (E-LED).
Into the S-LED, a well is etched onto the top of the planar LED structure. It enables the fibre end to be remained as close as possible to the light emitting area. Moreover, E-LEDs are preferred to use along with small NA while S-LEDs are better for larger NA fibres.
