How to increase in  the amount of glucokinase in liver

Consumption of a meal rich in carbohydrate  or administration  of insulin initiate an increase in  the amount of glucokinase, phosphofructokinase-I and pyruvate kinase  in  liver. These  changes reflect an increase  in gene  transcription resulting in an increased enzyme synthesis.  High activity of  these 3  enzymes favours  the conversion of glucose  to pyruvate, a characteristic of  the well-fed state. When plasma insulin is low and glucagon is high, the gene transcription  and  synthesis of these key enzymes are decreased.
