Q. How does self infection by tapeworms occur?

The Taeniasis patients may develop the most severe form of the worm infection, cysticercosis, because their feces contain eggs and pregnant proglottids of the taenia and there is risk of self infection because of bad hygienic habits, like not washing the hands after defecation. If these individuals ingest the eggs of the parasite they can develop cysticercosis too.
