How does aldosterone act and where is it produced?

Aldosterone is a hormone that acts upon the nephron tubules stimulating the resorption of sodium. Thus it contributes to the increase of the blood osmolarity and consequently to the enhance of the blood pressure.

Aldosterone is made by the adrenals, glands located over the superior portion of the kidneys.
