How adaptive transmission helps tcp to maximize connection, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

How adaptive transmission helps TCP to maximize throughput on each connection?

To know how adaptive retransmission helps TCP maximize throughput upon all connection, see a case of packet loss on two connections which have many round-trip delays. For illustration, Figure specified below demonstrates traffic on two such connections.

Time out and retransmission on two connections have different round trip delays. Like the figure demonstrates, TCP sets the retransmission timeout to be slightly longer than the mean round-trip delay. TCP uses a large retransmission timeout, if the delay is large; if the delay is small so TCP utilizes a small time out. The aim is to wait long adequate to find out that a packet was lost, without waiting longer than essential.
