Flow cytometry is an analysis of biological material by detection of light- absorbing or fluorescing properties of cells or subcellular fractions (that is chromosomes) passing in a narrow stream through the laser beam. The absorbance or the fluorescence profile of sample is produced. Autómata sorting devices, are used to fractionate samples, sort the up coming successive droplets of the analyzed stream into various fractions depending upon the fluorescence emitted by each droplet.
