Q. Flange Assembly with Torque Measurement?
Select the proper bolts and gasket for the intended service. Use only new, undamaged gaskets.
Lubricate the bolt threads and nut bearing surfaces.
Install two bolts diametrically opposite each other, and one bolt halfway between the previously installed bolts for retaining the position of the gasket.
Insert the gasket and center it in the flange. Hand tighten the nuts to hold the gasket in place.
Install the remaining bolts and nuts. Hand tighten the nuts keeping the flange faces parallel. Take care to assure proper seating and centering of the gasket and all the nut threads are fully engaged. Longer stud bolts should be used if all the nut threads are not fully engaged.
Number and mark the bolts with the pattern described below in a clockwise direction around the flange starting at the top (12 o'clock).
