Fire precautions - fire protection engineering:

Fire precautions include:

  • Protecting escape routes in fire resisting construction,
  • Providing fire doors between escape routes and risk areas,
  • Providing a fire alarm system so that people are warned of fire,
  • Providing emergency lighting,
  • Providing escape signs,
  • Training staff in fire procedures.

In the fire prevention process the hazards are things that may cause a fire to start. In  the  fire  precautions  process  the  hazards  are  fire  and  the  smoke  and  heat  it produces.
