Find the effective current flowing through the circuit, Physics

Assignment Help:

Q. A capacitor of capacitance 2 μF is in an ac circuit of frequency 1000 Hz. If the rms value of the applied emf is 10 V, find the effective current flowing through the circuit.

Solution:

Capacitive reactance               XC      = 1 / ωC

= 1 / 2π ν C

= 1 / 2 X 3.14 X 1000 X 2 X 10 -6

= 79.6 Ω

Irms    = E eff / XC

= 10 / 79.6 = 0.126 A
