Wage Differentials: Market structure alone does not account for all of the differences in wages and employment. Market wage differentials arise from various other sources, including, (1) the variations in geographic immobility within segments of the U.S. labor force,. (2) the continuing racial and gender discrimination evident in the U.S. social fabric, and (3) dissimilarity in productivity that arise from abilities of workers.
