Explain the term Rastelli operations ?

This is the operation of choice for transposition with VSD and left ventricular outflow obstruction. The principle of this operation is: 1) Intra ventricular VSD patch to direct LV blood to aorta. 2) To use an extra cardiac conduit to establish connection between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery. A valved conduit is made out of aortic or pu1111onary allograft. The alternative is to use a polyesler or PTFE graft with a bioprosthetic valve. If the operation is done in an infant, the size of the conduit his necessarily to be small and would require re-operation after some time.
