What is meant by software prototyping?

Software prototyping is a process of producing a model for the software product. This is developed based on the recently known requirements. Software prototyping helps to understand better about the required system. It is useful for complicated and large Systems. In software prototyping, the customer defines a set of specific objectives for the Software, but does not identify the real input, processing and output requirements.
