Explain the single mode fibres in intermodal dispersion, Physics

Assignment Help:

Explain about the single mode fibres in intermodal dispersion.

Into single mode fibers, the core size of the fibre is decreased to 3 to 9µm so that this supports simply axial modes, or consistently only one mode of travel (nevertheless both polarizations). Such fibers have V number less than 2.405 at the operating wavelength which is single mode operation, as

V = 2Πa/λ (√(n12 - n22)) = (2Πa/λ) < 2.405

Single mode fibers have negligible intermodal dispersion.
