Explain the Liver organ?
The liver is the largest internal organ in the human body. It lies just below the diaphragm in the upper right area of the abdominal cavity. It is an important organ of the digestive system because it produces bile, an emulsifying agent that breaks fats into smaller globules that can be more accessible to digestive enzymes. Bile is stored in a small sac called the gall bladder, and released in small quantities into the common bile duct, which joins the pancreatic duct just prior to entering the small intestine.
The presence of chyme in the intestine triggers release of bile. The liver has many other functions, including conversion of excess glucose into glycogen for energy, storage of fats, storage of iron and some vitamins, synthesis of blood proteins, and detoxification of harmful substances.
