Explain the Hyposecretion or Hypothyroidism in Adult Life

Decreased secretion of thyroid hormone results in the development of myxoedema. There is a slowing of mental and physical activity. The basal metabolic rate is reduced and there is a considerable general oedema. The facial skin is coarse, thick and dry and there is a loss of hair especially from lateral regions of eyebrows.
