Explain Self Disclosure for Communication Process?

  1. Involves showing how you react and feel about present situation.
  2. Sharing our hopes, fears, feelings, thoughts and experiences.
  3. Give any information about past that affects this reaction.
  4. Allows others to know more about you. Enhances closeness.
  5. Invites others to self disclose - so we know them better.
  6. Also can affect how we feel about ourselves and accepting ourselves.
  7. Provide feedback about how their behaviour is affecting you.
  8. In a positive climate, people reveal more.
  9. In a negative climate, people reveal less and are more defensive.
  10. Increases understanding -> open communication -> establish satisfying relationship.
