Explain Overhead Lines and Transformers?

Overhead lines absorb reactive power when fully loaded. A line with a current I A, a line reactance of XL ?/phase absorbs I2 XL VArs/phase. On light loads, the shunt capacitance of a long line may become predominant and the line becomes VAr generator producing V2 /XC VArs/phase. Transformers always absorb reactive power.
